Who we are
TapIn is a crew sign in service for construction job sites, run by Yitzchak Strasberg, a sole proprietor based in New York ("TapIn," "we," "us"). These Terms are an agreement between TapIn and the business that signs up ("you," "the customer"). By paying, signing up, or using TapIn, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
You can reach us at info@tapinsites.com.
The plans
| Plan | What it is |
|---|---|
| Software only | The standard TapIn sign in screen on a tablet you own, for one job site. |
| Full kiosk | Your own branded kiosk for one job site. We supply the tablet and a locking wall mount or floor stand, and we install it on your site wifi. |
| VIP | Done for you service for one kiosk. We supply and install the kiosk, with built in cellular internet, and we move it between your company's job sites at no extra cost. |
What each plan includes is listed on tapinsites.com on the date you sign up. Features marked as coming soon, such as the Friday Weekly Report email, are added when they are ready.
Fees and billing
| Plan | At sign up | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Software only | $299 onboarding fee, non refundable | $89 a month, starting the day your sign in screen goes live |
| Full kiosk | $499 onboarding fee, non refundable, includes setup at your first job site | $199 a month, starting the day your kiosk is installed |
| VIP monthly | $1,047 for the first 3 months, non refundable | $349 a month after the first 3 months |
| VIP yearly | $3,499 for the first year | $3,499 a year, renewing automatically |
- All prices are in US dollars and are per job site, or per kiosk for VIP.
- VIP has no onboarding fee and no new site fee.
- Each additional VIP kiosk for the same company is 50% off ($174.50 a month, $523.50 for the first 3 months, or $1,749.50 a year). See Additional kiosk discount. You can add VIP kiosks at any time, and each new kiosk is billed on its own at the additional kiosk price.
- When you pay, you authorize TapIn to save your payment method with our payment processor, Stripe, and to charge it for your plan's recurring fees and any other amounts due under these Terms, until you cancel.
- Monthly plans renew automatically on the same date each month until you cancel. Yearly plans renew automatically for another year on the same date each year until you cancel, and we email you a reminder with cancellation instructions about 30 days before each renewal.
- Sales tax may be added where the law requires it.
- After you sign up, we email you a confirmation with your plan, its price, how often you are billed, and how to cancel.
- We may change our prices for future billing periods. We will email you 30 days before a change affects you, and you may cancel before it takes effect.
Equipment deposit
- Full kiosk and VIP have a $500 refundable equipment deposit for each kiosk. It is a separate charge, billed right before we deliver.
- We hold deposits in trust in a separate bank account, apart from TapIn's own money, as New York law requires. The deposit stays your money until it is refunded or applied as described here.
- We refund the deposit within 14 days after you return the tablet, mount or stand, and all parts we supplied, in working condition with no damage beyond normal wear.
- If anything is damaged, missing, or not returned, we keep the cost to repair or replace it from the deposit. If that cost is more than the deposit, we bill you the difference.
Our equipment
- The tablet, mount or stand, and other hardware we supply belong to TapIn. You rent them while your plan is active.
- You are responsible for loss, theft, and damage while the equipment is at your site, and for keeping it in a safe, dry place with power.
- Do not remove the kiosk lock, install other apps, or change the device settings.
- When your plan ends, return all equipment within 14 days, or let us know and we will arrange pickup. Equipment not returned in that time is billed at its replacement cost, minus your deposit.
- VIP includes a next business day tablet swap if the tablet stops working, unless the damage was caused by misuse.
Setup, installation, and moving
- We contact you within one business day after you sign up to schedule setup. Most sites are set up within a few business days.
- You give us access to the site, a power outlet, a spot to mount or place the kiosk, and permission from the property owner if needed. Software only and Full kiosk also need working site wifi.
- Full kiosk: each new job site after your first has a $299 new site fee, which covers a new site photo, updating your kiosk, and installing it.
- VIP: we move your kiosk to any of your company's job sites at no extra cost.
- Software only: each new job site has a $299 new site fee.
Software only tablets
- Your tablet needs a working camera and internet connection, and it must be locked to the TapIn screen (for example with Android app pinning, iPad Guided Access, or a kiosk app). We help you set this up.
- Software only uses the standard TapIn look, without custom colors, logo, or site photo.
- You are responsible for your own tablet, including its condition and security.
Additional kiosk discount
The 50% price for additional VIP kiosks is only for kiosks used by the same company, on that company's own job sites. Additional kiosks may not be shared with, resold to, or used by another company, a friend's business, or a subcontractor. We may ask which company and job site each kiosk is used at.
If an additional kiosk is used in a way these Terms do not allow, we may (1) charge the difference between the full price and the discounted price for every month it was misused, plus a $250 administrative fee, (2) move all of your additional kiosks to full price, and (3) pause or end service to that kiosk right away.
Cancelling
- Software only: cancel anytime with 30 days notice. Service and billing continue for those 30 days.
- Full kiosk: cancel anytime with 30 days notice. Service and billing continue for those 30 days.
- VIP monthly: the first 3 months are prepaid. After that, cancel anytime with no notice. Service runs until the end of the month you paid for.
- VIP yearly: cancel anytime before your renewal date and you will not be charged for the next year. Service runs until the end of the year you paid for.
- You can cancel online with the Manage your plan link in any billing email, or by emailing info@tapinsites.com. We confirm every cancellation by email.
- After cancelling, return any equipment as described in Our equipment.
Refund policy
- Onboarding fees, new site fees, and prepaid VIP periods are non refundable once paid, because they cover work we do right away to prepare your kiosk.
- Monthly and yearly fees are not prorated or refunded for partial periods after cancelling.
- If we are unable to set up or install your kiosk for a reason on our side, we refund what you paid for that kiosk.
- Equipment deposits are refunded as described in Equipment deposit.
- If you believe you were charged by mistake, email us within 30 days and we will make it right.
Late or failed payments
- If a payment fails, our payment processor tries again over the following days and emails you a secure link to update your card.
- If a payment is more than 10 days late, we may pause the sign in screen until it is paid. Your past reports stay available to view and print while paused.
- Unpaid amounts stay on your account until paid. Service resumes once your account is current.
Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for how TapIn is used at your sites, including telling workers that sign ins, signatures, and ID photos are recorded, and getting any consent the law requires.
- You are responsible for meeting your own record keeping, safety, and inspection requirements. TapIn is a tool that helps you keep records. It is not legal advice, and we do not guarantee that using it will prevent fines, violations, or claims.
- Keep your report and admin codes private. Anyone with a code can see the records it opens.
- Do not use TapIn for anything unlawful, or try to copy, resell, or break into the service.
Your records
The sign in records your workers create belong to your company. We store them to run the service, as described in our Privacy Policy. You can ask us for a copy at any time. After your plan ends, we keep your records for 90 days so you can export them, and then we delete them, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.
Service availability
We work to keep TapIn running at all times, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted, for example during internet, power, or provider outages. If the service is down for more than 2 days in a row for a reason on our side, tell us and we will credit that time on your next bill.
Limits on our responsibility
TapIn is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, TapIn is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, such as fines, lost profits, or delays, and our total responsibility for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim.
Our content
The TapIn name, logo, website, videos, kiosk screens, and software belong to TapIn and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may use them only to run TapIn at your own sites. Do not copy, resell, or build a competing product from them.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is important, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use TapIn after that means you accept the new Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of New York State.
