Privacy Policy

The short version
- We collect what we need to run TapIn, and nothing more.
- We never sell your information.
- ID photos are only visible to people your company gives the report or admin code to.
What we collect
From businesses that sign up: name, company, phone, email, billing address, job site address, and payment details. Card numbers are handled by Stripe and are never stored by TapIn.
From workers signing in on a kiosk: name, company, signature, sign in date and time, ZIP code, and for first time workers, a photo of their ID.
For branding: your logo, colors, and a photo of your job site.
From the website: basic technical information your browser sends, such as IP address and pages visited, which our hosting provider uses for security and to keep the site running.
How we use it
- To run the sign in kiosk and the live Weekly Report for your company.
- To check that new workers take a clear picture of a real ID, using the smart ID reader.
- To bill you, send receipts and reminders, and answer your questions.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
Who can see it
- Your company's supervisors and anyone you give the report or admin code to can see your sign in records, including ID photos.
- The kiosk screen never shows ID photos to the crew.
- TapIn can access records only to set up, support, or fix your service.
Service providers we use
We share information only with the companies that help us run TapIn, and only for that purpose:
- Cloudflare: hosting, storage, and processing for the kiosk, reports, smart ID reader, and website.
- Stripe: payments and billing.
- Google: our business email.
We may also share information if the law requires it. We never sell information or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Sign in records and ID photos are kept for up to about 13 months by default, so the Weekly Report and inspections can look back, or for a different period your company chooses.
- After your plan ends, we keep records for 90 days so you can export them, and then delete them.
- Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires.
How we protect it
Each job site has its own locked database. Reports and lists are protected by codes, kiosks only work on approved devices, and all traffic is encrypted. No system is perfect, but we work to keep your information safe and if a breach affects your data we will notify you and anyone affected as New York law requires.
Your choices
Workers who want to see, correct, or delete their information can ask the company they signed in for, or email us and we will work with that company. Businesses can ask us for a copy of their records or ask us to delete them at any time.
Children
TapIn is for businesses and their workers. It is not meant for children under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we make an important change, we will update the date at the top of this page and email our customers.
